SLURRY & FARMYARD MANURES

Most of the N, P and K in livestock diets is excreted in the dung and urine that make up the slurry and FYM on your farm. Like bagged fertilisers, slurry and FYMs have a nutritional value and a monetary value. A proportion of the nutrients in your FYMs are locked in organic material and unavailable to plants, but as a rule of thumb, 1000-gal cattle slurry @ 7% DM contains approx. 6 available units N, 5 available units P and 30 available units K.
